Introduction to the Lectures
Progress in Global Health is one of the courses studied by the global health major, aiming to highlight the cutting-edge and application of the profession. For this, senior officials and well-known scholars at home and abroad were specially invited to hold a series of characteristic lectures, introducing the important fields of global health and the progress of relevant research, covering global health security, global health diplomacy, global health governance, global health emergency, and research on major global health and health issues, in the form of online and offline integration. Not only can it enable listeners to gain useful knowledge and enlightenment from the rich practice and insight of the lecturers, but also their global vision can be broadened and their understanding of global health affairs and international organizations can be improved.
Lecture 2 Successful Aging and Global Health
Special Guest: Chen Xi
Doctor of Applied Economics of Cornell University, Associate Professor of Global Health Policy and Economics of Yale University, and concurrently the Guiding Professor of Yale Institute of Social Policy, Federal Center for Alzheimer's Disease Research, etc., Researcher of Germany IZA Institute of Labor Economics, and Leader of the Environmental and Human Capital Research Group of the Global Labor Organization, President of China Society for Health Policy and Management (2018-2020), part-time Professor of Institute for Global Health and Development, Peking University, Senior Researcher of Cornell University Center for Health Economics and Inequality, and External Reviewer of the United Nations, the National Science Foundation of the United States, the National Institutes of Health of the United States, the National Science Foundation of Norway, etc. Dr. Chen Xi's research combines economic causal inference, machine learning, and traditional epidemiological methods. Through in-depth analysis of the big data of China, the United States, and Europe's medical and health systems and multiple social tracking survey data, it focuses on public policies in the fields of population aging, whole life cycle health, and quality of life. He has won the Pepper Scholar Award of the National Institutes of Health, the Outstanding Doctoral Thesis Award of the Agricultural & Applied Economics Association, the Butler Williams Scholar Award of the National Academy on Aging, the Kuznets Award of Global Population Economics, and the George Warren Award for Applied Economy Research.
He presided over the research of the National Institutes of Health, the Economic Research Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the U.S. Center for Aging and Independence, and the U.S. non-profit institutions, and published 96 related papers in the academic journals PNAS, LANCET, etc. in the fields of science, economics, and health care.
