On July 6, 2021, under the leadership of Professor Zheng Zhijie, Dean of the Department of Geohygiene of Peking University School of Public Health, and Sun Qiudan, Director of the International Cooperation Department of Peking University Health Science Center, more than ten teachers and students of the Department of Global Health visited the ASEAN-China Centre. Both sides exchanged views and discussed the mechanism building of ASEAN-China University Consortium on Medicine and Health, the future development direction of ASEAN-China medical education cooperation, and ASEAN-China public health cooperation.
Professor Zheng Zhijie thanked the ASEAN-China Centre for its invitation on behalf of the Department and introduced the recent ASEAN-related research work of the Department to the Secretary-General of the Centre, Mr Chen Dehai. Professor Zheng Zhijie said that demand-oriented public health cooperation between China and ASEAN is of great importance. The future public health cooperation needs to combine the actual needs of ASEAN countries to make the bilateral cooperation more targeted and epochal.
Director Sun Qiudan introduced the current construction of the mechanism platform of ASEAN-China University Consortium on Medicine and Health, looked forward to the development direction of ASEAN-China medical education cooperation in the future, and expressed gratitude to the Center for its strong support in the mechanism building process.
Chen Dehai, Secretary General, welcomed the visit of the faculty and students of the Department, summarized the work done by the ASEAN-China Centre in the past two years to promote epidemic prevention and control and public health cooperation between China and ASEAN countries, and expressed his willingness to continue to support the construction of mechanisms and platforms, play the role of the ASEAN-China Centre as a link, and promote friendly exchanges and cooperation between the people of China and ASEAN countries.

The ASEAN-China Centre is an intergovernmental international organization jointly established by China and the ten ASEAN countries. At the Special Summit to Commemorate the 20th Anniversary of ASEAN-China Dialogue Relations on November 18, 2011, the leaders of China and the 10 ASEAN countries and the Secretary General of ASEAN jointly inaugurated the Center, which was officially established. The Secretariat of the Center is located in Beijing, and the current Secretary General is Mr. Chen Dehai. The establishment of the ASEAN-China Center reflects the continuous development of ASEAN-China relations and the vision of the leaders of both parties. As a one-stop information and activity center, the ASEAN-CHINA CENTRE bends its efforts for promoting friendly exchanges and practical cooperation between China and ASEAN in trade, investment, education, culture, tourism, information media, etc.
